Indiana Youth Group, Inc.

The Indiana Youth Group has received $251,029.00 to continue providing in-house mental health staffing and programs.

Creating spaces for LGBTQ+ young people since 1987, Indiana Youth Group (IYG) strives to provide safer spaces to build self-confidence, explore individualism, and develop friendships within the LGBTQ+ community. IYG promotes a space of acceptance, equity, and restorative practices. IYG provide free services to young people ages 12-24 who self-identify as LGBTQ+, as well as their ally peers. Additionally, the IYG advocates for LGBTQ+ youth in schools, the community, and through family support services.

In June of 2022, Indiana Youth Group (IYG) launched its own in-house Counseling Program. With on-site therapist providing free counseling, both one-on-one and group sessions, IYG brought mental health services into their center full time. IYG is better able to serve its youth and young adult clients by addressing the unique stressors, issues, and needs, of LGBTQ+ individuals. This allows IYG to act as a source of intervention that is so desperately needed by LGBTQ+ young people in Marion County. Furthermore, the presence of an on-staff therapist has allowed counseling to become fully integrated with IYG’s case management and youth services. With Vitality Funding, IYG will continue offering and building upon these services by expanding their staff and programming
