Susan Elsworth

Director of Indiana National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Elsworth has a bachelor of arts degree in business management from Anderson University and an associate of science degree in criminal justice and corrections from Ball State University. Elsworth was a licensed foster parent from 2002 to 2014 and mentors both foster and adoptive parents. A mother to 13 children, she and her husband Duane adopted nine foster children: five with FASD, one with Celiac Disease, and three with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RADS). Elsworth formed and serves as president of Central Indiana NOFAS, Inc., a not for profit corporation serving families and individuals with prenatal substance and alcohol exposure. She serves on the executive council for NOFAS Affiliates. Elsworth serves on several collaboratives in Madison County as well as the Perinatal Substance Use Committee and the Governing Council for Indiana Perinatal Quality Improvement Committee for the Indiana State Department of Health. Susan also serves on the Family and Youth subcommittee for the Indiana Systems of Care for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction. She is a prior Indiana Title V Family Delegate and co-chair of the Family Advisory Council for Children’s Special Health Care Needs. She was also a family fellow with Riley Child Development Center LEND program.
