Addiction Recovery Coach Training and Ethics at South Bend

The State of Indiana has awarded a grant to train addiction recovery coaches in north-central Indiana. Participants must be from St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Marshall, or Starke Counties. Interview opportunities for employment at Oaklawn Mental Health Services available after training and certification.

This training will be held March 24-25, April 7-8, April 14-15, April 21-22 (attendance at all four week-ends required)

2018 ICAADA Conference and Awards Luncheon: Advancing Trauma-Informed Addiction Recovery

The 2018 Annual ICAADA Conference and Awards Luncheon, Advancing Trauma-Informed Addiction Recovery, will have a special focus on trauma and addiction recovery. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Eboni Webb, internationally recognized DBT and Trauma speaker. Workshop topics will focus on trauma-informed addiction recovery in a variety of service settings and topical areas including medication assisted treatment, recovery coaching, criminal justice/corrections, veterans' trauma, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. Speakers will include Max McClelland, Kevin Moore, Dennis Greene, Dr. Kristen Dauss, Dr. Jacqualyn Green, Frank Gonzales, Michael Allen, Dr. Eric Davis, Stephanie Spoolstra, Nate Rush and Stan DeKemper.

HIV/AIDS and STD Education & Risk Reduction Training for Addiction Professionals

This six (6) hour training is designed to assist addiction professionals in helping their clients identify  “high risk” activities/life styles that may increase the risk of exposure to HIV and/or the risk of transmitting HIV to others.  The goal of this training is to improve the ability of addiction professionals in a variety of settings to support individuals in making behavior changes that will reduce their risk of acquiring and/or transmitting HIV as well as other health related conditions such as Hepatitis C and other STDs.

Participants completing the training will receive six (6) CEUs from ICAADA .  These CEUs meet  credentialing requirements for addiction professionals.

Recovery Coach Ethics

The Recovery Coach Ethics training course is an intensive two-day training designed to enable participants to explore the ethical dimensions and issues that a recovery coach may encounter as they promote recovery. The training will focus on the legal and moral issues that may surface while providing recovery coaching services. Training topics will include definition of recovery coach ethics, ICAADA Recovery Coach Code of Ethics, ethical responsibilities of recovery coaching, guidelines for ethical decision-making, and ethics of profession development. Training methods utilized will be lecturette-discussion, small group activities and skill practice.

The Addiction Recovery Coach Training Course is a five-day, thirty-hour interactive knowledge and skill development training designed for those desiring to provide recovery coaching in a variety of recovery settings. Participants will learn how to promote recovery for people seeking or in recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction and how to help remove obstacles and barriers to recovery. Participants will be expected to attend all five days of this training.
